MisCon is definitely worthy of a shout-out. I, obviously, haven't been blogging a lot lately. I cannot decide on a focus for it. I started off with a fair amount about writing but blogging about writing is for writers. I want to attract readers and to do that I should write about things that would interest me. However I am interested in so many different things that I keep thinking I have to narrow it down.

I read your blog, Candi! Thanks for the MisCon shout out. It's my favorite convention too, although I'm biased.

I have been blogging as lot lately, although I haven't talked much about fantasy or sci-fi yet. I am talking about motivation and writing, though.

Ahhh! You and The Hubby think too much alike. He teases me for making my rivers run inland in a map I made in high school.

Don't forget to think about how that water and prevailing winds will affect climate and what that does for local societies, and transport between continents. You might think about the scale of the map. Is this one side of the world, or most of the landmass?

Two years ago, I bought the box set with the first 8 in them knowing I would like them. I didn't know I would love them and that I would reread the entire series every couple months whether I needed to or not.

Cheyenne (wifey)read these books. She thought she'd hate them, and four weeks later had finished all of them. Ha. But yes, she would also recommend these to anyone, (though she said the last one wasn't as fantastic as the rest).

Oh so very weird. I love the Disney Princesses part of your story. I remember trying to sleep like that when I was younger.

I have only sleep-walked once that we know of. I was eleven years old living in Boise. My little brother was only five months old and my parents had gone out to a New Year's Eve party. I slept in their bed since it was next to his crib and I could help him in the night if he needed it. Sleeping in a new bed is hard and I recall thinking about those Disney Princesses who would place their hands together and under their head to rest. I figured since I wasn't going to sleep anyhow I'd lie that way for a while. I woke up in my own bed with my hands still clapped together and under my head in the exact same position. I came downstairs for breakfast and asked my mother how my dad had miraculously managed to get me into my own bed in the same position as when I laid down in their room. She batted her eyes in disbelief that I didn't remember waking up when she came home, how she told me I could go to bed, how I gave her an evil glare and then walked up 13 stairs into my own room to lie down again. I checked myself for bruises. Sleep-walking is weird.

:( I am so sorry your character died... and that we cremated her. In our defense, it was not without a thought. I thought very carefully about what our deceased companion would want us to do. Rest in Peace Dare.

Why the dead are still buried in game? [ooc] It's convenient to the game mechanics and the prevalence of undead. Also, similarities to our world make for much less explaining and more gaming; if the world was too alien you'd have to start with a long intro about what assumptions were accurate for that world, then game with those assumptions repeated in your mind. Many world's are modeled after medieval Europe when dogma made burial the norm. Other historic settings would make cremation more likely.

(in game) Motivations could range from mimicry of the more wealthy and powerful (who have resurrection as an option) to various of the deities preferring it for whatever reason. Culture plays a strong role in the funeral practices of a people. Paul pointed out climate could effect choices of burial vs cremation.

Zombie Apocalypse? IF the dead were rising, imho, mob mentality would take over and the dead... all the dead ... would burn and probably catch a few more things on fire while they were at it.
